LVP Floor Installation

Expert Luxury Vinyl Plank Installation for Stylish and Durable Solutions.

Luxury vinyl plank (LVP) is the most popular flooring category in the US right now — and for good reason. It looks like real hardwood, is 100% waterproof, handles heavy traffic, installs quickly, and costs significantly less than solid hardwood.

We install LVP in kitchens, bathrooms, basements, and anywhere else where moisture makes hardwood a poor choice. Our team installs floating click-lock systems, glue-down planks, and loose-lay options depending on subfloor conditions and the product specified. We carry and install leading brands including COREtec, Shaw Floorté, Pergo, and LifeProof, with thicknesses from 6mm to 12mm and wear layers from 6 mil to 20 mil commercial grade.

Installation is typically faster than hardwood, meaning less disruption to your home. No sand-and-finish curing time is required. The floor can be walked on immediately after installation.

How it works

How a lvp floor installation job runs

  1. 01

    Subfloor prep

LVP requires a flat subfloor within 3/16" over 10 ft. We grind high spots and fill low areas. Any moisture issues must be addressed before installation.

  2. 02

    Underlayment

Most floating LVP includes attached underlayment, but we add a separate moisture barrier on slab or basement applications.

  3. 03

    Layout and pattern planning

We plan plank direction and starting wall for visual balance, ensuring no narrow cut pieces at doorways or room ends.

  4. 04

    Click-lock installation

Planks snap together and float over the subfloor. We maintain 1/4" expansion gap at all walls and obstacles, covered by baseboard or quarter-round trim.

  5. 05

    Transitions and trim

T-moldings, reducers, and stair nose pieces are installed at all room transitions and elevation changes.

LVP Floor Installation questions

Is LVP really waterproof?

The plank itself is 100% waterproof. However, standing water can seep through the seams into the subfloor if left too long. For wet areas, we recommend periodic inspection of seams. LVP is moisture resistant; not a substitute for waterproofing the structure itself.

How thick should LVP be?

For residential use, 8–12mm total thickness with at least an 8 mil wear layer is solid. High-traffic commercial applications should use 12mm with 20 mil wear layer. Thicker = more sound absorption and a more solid feel underfoot.

Can LVP go over existing flooring?

Sometimes. LVP can float over existing tile or hardwood if the surface is flat, securely bonded, and within height tolerance for door clearances. We assess existing floor condition at the free estimate.

Does LVP feel hollow underfoot?

Floating LVP has some hollow sound because it is not glued down. Higher-quality products with thicker cores and denser underlayment significantly reduce this. Glue-down LVP eliminates it entirely.
